Chakras are the energy centers that manage how energy moves in and out of the body. They are essentially spinning wheels of light that create a whirlpool effect, taking in vital life force energy from all around you.
If these centers become blocked or their process becomes impeded in some way it can affect not not only your mental and emotional well being, but can lead to physical manifestations of dis-ease as well.
Much like the circulatory system has arteries and veins, the energetic anatomy has nadis, or channels that carry energy all over the body. The points where many nadis intersect are the chakras. There are thousands of chakras all over the body, but there are seven BIG ones located along the spinal column.

Chanting the Mantras
Each major chakra is associated with a different sacred sound, or mantra, that when chanted aloud can help to clear the energy in that region of the body. This will help restore the chakra to its optimal functioning, if for some reason it is not spinning properly.
Thanks to the creative mind of Yoga teacher Nicholas Giacomini, aka MC Yogi, we have access to this wonderful tool for learning and practicing the mantras that correspond to each chakra.
If chanting aloud isn't your thing quite yet, don't worry, you can relax and listen to the mantras and still benefit. I used to feel uncomfortable chanting, even when I was alone, but overtime I got over this fear and now I LOVE the experience. It truly does alter your state of consciousness to emit these sacred sounds and feel them vibrate your entire being!
Try using the Chakra Beatbox everyday for a week to both learn the mantras for each chakra and also help keep them balanced and clear. I recommend doing 10 minutes of Yoga asana practice, followed by a relaxing savasana (final rest pose). Play the Chakra Beatbox on repeat during your relaxation time. Use an essential oil like lavendar or frankincense to help you relax and open up as you practice.
